Reliance acquires entire Hydro Projects of Jaiprakash.


Reliance
An exclusive MoU(memorandum of understanding) has been signed between the two corporates Reliance Power and Jaipraksh Power ventures , for the 100% acquisition by RCL of the entire hydroelectric power portfolio of JPVL. JPVL hydro electric power portfolio has 1800 MW capacity fully in operation which has an asset value of over 10,000 cr. There are 3 plants in JPVL hydroelctic power portfolio, each having a a life of over 50 years.

Every plant uses the run-of-river technology to convert natural water flow to electricity and in this technique there is no any need of th large reservoirs.
Jaiprakash Associates has huge debt and intends to reduce it by utilizing the Transaction Amount to be received in return.

*with ongoing commissioning of NTPP in MP and upon completion Bara Thermal Power Plant in U.P. It will have a generation base of MW.

After acquiring all Hydroelectric Portfolios, Reliance leads the private power sector now.
